My father taught me the most important lesson I ever learned about betting horses. Don't bet the horse, bet the odds board.
Example: If you handicap a horse to win and the horse is even money, forget him, find a better bet, even if you know the even money shot is going to win.
I've been betting horses, and winning, since I was 12, about 42 years ago. This is the best lesson I ever learned.
It doesn't answer the handicapping question (current form, curren class, current success of connections) but it may help in winning more money, and I think that's what you are looking for.

I look at the horses stride, whether it is 2 stone or more, the more the worse, because the horse goes slower, the less the better because the horse goes faster and the type and size of the rider and how long they have been riding for

First I evaluate the pace of each horse, front runner, stalker, presser, closer. Next I evaluate the last 3 races to see if the runner is in good form and how their speed figures measure up to the rest of the field and third I use the expert picks at tracksidebroadcasting.com!
